Authentication and sessions

Users with different roles can log in to the DreamApply portal in the following ways:

  • Applicants: In the top right corner of the DreamApply portal, click Sign in/Register. On the mobile version, in the top left corner, click the main menu icon and select Sign in/register.
  • Administrators: In the bottom left corner of the menu, click Admin login (on both desktop and mobile versions).
  • Advisors: In the bottom left corner of the menu, click Advisor login (on both desktop and mobile versions).

Session management

When a user logs in to DreamApply, they are granted a session, which allows them to perform actions associated with their assigned role.

A session ends when a user logs out from DreamApply or closes the browser window. DreamApply may automatically terminate sessions in the following cases:

  • Maximum session duration: The maximum session duration is 48 hours. After that, a session is terminated.
  • Logging in from another browser or device: If the same user with the same role logs in on another browser or device, the previous session is terminated to prevent inconsistencies.
  • Clearing browser cookies: Deleting cookies terminates the current session.
  • Session timeout due to inactivity (Administrators): Administrators can be logged out if they remain inactive for a long time.
  • Account validity settings (Administrators): Administrators can be logged out when their accounts become invalid.
  • Data deletion (applicants): If an applicant requests their data to be deleted, their session is immediately terminated.

Action continuity on authentication

To enhance the user experience, DreamApply maintains a user workflow across authentication.

If an applicant initiates some actions before logging in, for example, clicks the Apply now! button, DreamApply temporarily stores this request. After the applicant logs in, the system immediately processes the request and redirects the applicant to the initial page. This eliminates the need for repetitive actions and streamlines the application process.
